my PC keeps shutting down instantly with no warning. All it says is is monitor is going to sleep. Picture goes first swiftly followed by the sound. I have no idea what is causing this at all, which is why i am posting this.

I have tried several scans, full system, utilities, cleaning registry, cleaning disks. Nothing seems to work. I know it is not overheating as i check it straight away when it shuts down and it is pretty cold still.

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be and possible solutions?

When booted, go to start menu and right click 'Computer' and choose 'Manage'.

Check the system logs to see if you can pinpoint a specific problem. ('Event viewer' -> 'Windows logs' -> 'System')

In my experience, and totally without knowing any specifics, I would normally assume overheating or a memory issue.

One other thing to do is disable the auto-restart. Go to start menu and right click 'Computer' and choose 'Properties'. Click on 'advance system settings'. Click on the 'settings' in the 'Startup and Recovery section'. Untick 'Automatically restart'. If the crash is a BSOD you might be able to get a error code to help work out the issue.

just so we are absolutely clear: your PC goes to sleep sporadicly, and coz it goes to sleep u can just wake it up instantly?
I can think fo 2 problems
1) keyboard button has bad contact
2) there is a program which tells your pc to go to sleep. (for example when all torrents are done downloading, or maybe u installed some alarm/clock/timer.) In any case PC's dont go to sleep coz of overheating (they shut down)

it could be a virus

Well, i have checked all the power wires and cables etc. Check they are connected properly and have restored my pc to a month before any problems started occuring, hopefully this will fix it. If not i think it will be a component issue?
