On Friday night my solid state drive died on me. Being the crazy guy I am it was running in a stripe (Which may turn out to be a good thing if I can get some useful data out of datarecovery).

I went out and bought a replacement drive and everythings up and running again . The first Computer Store I went to didn't have the drive I wanted so rather than waiting I tried a different one, Score ^^

Got me one of these bad boys; Samsung 840 Pro (256GB)

Don't drive ssd's on stripes, mirror them. They fail quite more often than mechanical drives...

Every hd I have is ssd (laptop, netbook, desktop) and hd's can spin for years, ssd's died after two to 4 years...

And yes, always keep some backups around.
