Right, am playing css, join a server (for the purpose of this post, I'll use TMH).

First time on server

Downloads the new map, downloads sounds, skins, etc.

New Map

Downloads the new map, downloads sounds, skins, etc AGAIN

Join server another time/day

Downloads a new map (if new, not gone on any recurring maps yet), downloads sounds, skins, etc AGAIN!!

Anyone know what's going on and how I might fix this? As I have to download everything from the server each time I go on, and the sounds don't even work! It's quite nice hearing the little voices in my head say 'Dominating!' or 'HOLY SHIT!' or anything for that matter... Let alone not have to wait each time for them to re-download

I dont have to wait for them to download but the quake sounds on TMH aren't working for me anyway.

You can set the download filter to nosounds or off so that u don't have to keep downloading it if u already have all the maps on rotation and dnt want the sounds

I had this problem before. I had to let it trough the firewall, 100 % (I'm not using Windows Firewall) AND I had to change rights on the Steam folder.
You can also try this:
cl_allowupload 1
cl_allowdownload 1
cl_downloadfilter all

And you may delete the files from the caches in:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\*your name*\counter-strike source\cstrike\cache
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\*your name*\counter-strike source\cstrike\downloads

yep had same problem
luckily ive kept the old install fully intact and copied maps and sounds over and it stopped
dont know how or why. steam is a big mistery often

As it's on laptop, not downloaded any of the maps yet lol, finally got quake sounds, but nothing else working for some reason...
