Finally finished reinstalling all the important stuff!!!!!!!!

Had one synth that took over two hours (60gig ...)..

And, touch wood, the jump to Win 7 has completely cured the crackling and sound issues I was having with my DAW and reduced the latency to practically zero Yelling D
Please excuse my posts .. I try, often unwisely, to write in E-Prime :S

could u guys check the size of winsxs map?
c:/win/winsxs (approx there)

Will check this thread in a year to see how much it has grown
After a year of Vista my winsxs is bigger than vista itself...

6GB for me, thats bigger than the entire / disk on my ubuntu install :p

I have 3Gb RAM with 64-bit Windows 7. Would there be a noticeable boost in performance if I get more RAM - say I get another 5GB to make 8GB total?

only if u are running something that actually uses it, like photochopping big pics

Or maybe playing big maps on supreme commander.

shouldnt be a problem
generally if u see stuttering when
-turning a corner
-picking up new gun
-something "new" happening
it means u are low on ram. Then hdd starts working ->slow->stutter
